The Reddit Bake-Off, Reddit-wide tokenization, and where NANO fits in the future of digital exchange.
I first learned about Bitcoin from a person I met at an interview in late 2017. My primary interest was Bitcoin, but at the time I saw how much profit early Ethereum adopters yielded and I envied them for finding such a successful project in its early stages. My first investment in cryptocurrency was Litecoin. I was attracted to the fact that, although it was essentially the same as Bitcoin, it was faster and slightly less expensive. I dove in and I got rekt. As time went on I began to do research on different coins. I found Binance and started exploring alts. I'd look at the Binance chart, pick a coin, Google it, read their whitepaper (since I didn't understand the code, eventually I just judged a whitepaper by its aesthetic), and ultimately I would end up on their subreddit. That's how I found CryptoCurrency. At some point in my journey, a new wave of confidence entered the market. People started talking in the Daily about a new coin that appeared on some weird exchange whose named I had never heard. They said it was instant and free and that it was the absolute epitome of what Bitcoin was meant to be. Countless users suggested this coin would absorb the entire market cap of Bitcoin. Its name was strange, RaiBlocks (XRB). I had bought in around $20 at the time the price went from $0-38 in a couple of weeks. Everyone was enthusiastic about the bull run, but it was the technology and its potential for worldwide application that people were excited about most. Welp, some bad press and a couple of years later and we are now in the depths of obscurity and any mention of NANO in the Daily on CryptoCurrency, the same sub that birthed its popularity in the first place, is chastised. I sadly watched as NANO lost its clout and with it its price. Eventually, BrainBlocks died, which was my favorite project of all, and I exited completely. I even removed NANO from my watchlists because I knew if I saw it I would buy back in. NANO fell off my radar entirely for about 4 months while I dove head first into DeFi. However, last night I saw the charts looking favorable for a breakout, so I re-entered. Then today as Bitcoin pumped and every other alt dumped, NANO miraculously jumped. I figured the trading bots still oddly tie NANO to Bitcoin and after seeing NANO as the only successful coin in a sea of red, I came back. I also thought maybe the developers knew something we didn't, and the price was increasing before something big was about to happen, but that's just wishful thinking. Right now, the most exciting corner of the cryptocurrency space is far and away the fact that Reddit is now heavily involved in the future of cryptocurrency integration:
As an experiment, Reddit has begun given tokens to posters/commenters at two subreddits for upvoted content: Moons and Bricks at CryptoCurrency and FortNiteBR, respectively.
A user was even able to bridge Moons and Bricks to equivalent tokens on the xDai Network (xMOON and xBRICK), and are literally tradable. For example, I earned 425 moons last month and I bridged them to xMOON and traded them for ETH on Honeyswap. I earned ERC-20 tokens from Reddit, bridged them to another network, and sold them. This, ladies and gentlemen, is not only the beginning of the tokenization of Reddit. This is going to be the beginning of tokenization of everything. NANO is faster and feeless. An infinite number of blockchains can be created on the block lattice. A community member even generated a Moons to NANO converter, right? My question is: Is it possible for NANO to bridge ERC-20 and ERC-677 tokens from the Ethereum network to NANO sidechain equivalents. Fore example, NANOETH, NANOLINK, etc.? Why can't NANO participate in the Bake-Off and develop a protocol that bridges NANO and other tokens via sidechains? Is it possible to create a token for every single subreddit and have them run simultaneosly the NANO network? Why isn't NANO in the discussion for this and why haven't we entered the Bake-Off? Is this not the best use case for NANO and the best place to implement the protocol? To be quite honest, I am back because I think NANO will succeed in some way and I imagine the developers have a plan for marketing with the next hype wave in cryptocurrency. However, if that is not the case, then this project is missing a serious opportunity to become a part of perhaps the single most important incoming disruptor in the cryptocurrency space and economics, err, soon-to-be tokenomics of our society. People once thought this coin would absorb the entire market cap of Bitcoin, but it's been 3 years and other projects have gained traction and now the spotlight is on Ethereum. Yes, there will never be another coin as fast or as free as NANO, but there needs to actually be use for it for it to become valuable and have a place in the future. Thanks for reading! tl;dr - Reddit is tokenizing all subreddits and is actively hosting a competition in order to try to find the solution to Ethereum scaling, called the Bake-Off. I want to know if it is possible for NANO to participate in the Reddit Bake-Off and use its protocol to tokenize Reddit.
In the short one month since the last set of patch notes, we have grown from a sub with less than 10,000 members to one with 50,000 members and counting! With the incredible growth the sub has been experiencing, we have made some much needed changes. Without further ado, here are all the changes that have been made.
The biggest (and most time consuming) change that has been made as of late is the development of our very own Mangaswapbot! Features:
Trade flairs will be confirmed automatically and almost instantaneously.
Self confirming a trade will be automatically reported to the mod team.
All posts will be checked for proper title formatting; failure to format properly will result in a post removal.
Selling posts without a proper image link (i.e. Imgur) will be automatically removed.
All approved posts will have the poster’s name, join date, karma, and confirmed trades displayed in the comments.
Automatic post frequency check. To make rule 2 more concrete, the bot now keeps track of post frequency.
Selling posts and buying posts must be 7 days apart from the last post of that respective type.
Trading posts can be acknowledged by either "clock". To clarify, if you post a selling or buying post and then a trading post within 7 days of each other, your trading post will fill the other timer. This effectively allows for 2 posts of different types within 7 days of each other.
There are still some minor functionalities in development. These include:
Running the confirmed trade check 24/7. As of right now, it’s a manual activation.
Checking post frequency. We will be implementing a function to ensure members only make 1 selling and 1 buying post every 7 days; they will be tracked on separate timers.
Clarification on rule enforcement and punishment: Since it’s not clear as to how strict/lenient we are with the rules, we figured it would be good to clarify. For most rules, we will stick to a 3 strike system. Upon violating a rule the first time, you will receive a warning. If you violate a rule a second time, you will again be warned. If you violate a rule a third time, you will be permanently banned. We believe our rules are extremely clear and it’s in the best interest of the community to remove those who can’t follow them. Exceptions to the 3 strike system include rules 1, 4, 5 , and 6. Rule 1 is at the discretion of the moderators. Any heavy levels of harassment and/or derogatory comments will most likely result in an immediate ban as we don’t tolerate the mistreatment of our wonderful community. Rule 4 and 6 will likely only warrant a single warning as a repeated offence essentially has to be intentional. Finally rule 5 is also at the discretion of the moderators. Asking for Bitcoin, Cashapp, etc. will warrant a single warning if we believe it was out of ignorance, however, if we feel the intention is to scam, a ban will be issued immediately.
The order in which the rules appear has been altered for better flow.
All posts must now follow the proper title formatting specified under the “Posting Format” section of the sidebar.
Rule #3(updated) - "All selling posts must include prices and pictures. G&S fee must be included in prices.”
The “70% of MSRP price cap” and “buyers must list prices” were swiftly removed from rule 3.
Although we do permit the sale of h-manga and dōjinshi, anything depicting “loli” is banned as it violates Reddit’s ToS.
Monthly trade threads will now be locked 3 days after the newest month’s trade thread is posted.
The weekly Q&A thread will now be bi-weekly.
We added a mangaswap specific scammer list under the “Important Links” section of the sidebar.
On old.reddit, the mod mail button was altered to be largemore visible.
The community banner has been updated on all platforms. In case you missed it, mari-moth was the winner of our banner contest! Her wonderful banner is the new banner on the new.reddit and reddit mobile UI. We went ahead and designed a fresh new banner ourselves for old.reddit users. Trade flairs have been updated! The new flairs are as follows:
Brown book: 1-4 confirmed trades
Red book: 5-9 confirmed trades
Orange book: 10-14 confirmed trades
Yellow book: 15-19 confirmed trades
Light green book: 20-24 confirmed trades

If you need to contact the mods for any reason, please feel free to send us a mod mail. Please do not send any of us PMs/DMs in place of mod mail. Any PMs/DMs sent to us regarding moderation will be ignored.
At this point in time, the only future plans we have is perhaps making some aesthetic revisions to both old.reddit and new.reddit/mobile. We are considering adding a “leaderboard” purely for fun. It would show the top 5 or 10 users based on their trade counts in the monthly trade thread. Let us know your thoughts on this!
To the experienced users out there, if you have the time to spare, please take a moment to check the bi-weekly Q&A threads to help answer questions. We would like to make the Q&A thread more inviting to new users and have a larger diversity of input. As of now, most of the questions are answered by the mod team. If anyone has any comments, questions, or suggestions on anything we implemented or if we forgot something, feel free to let us know. We take each and every suggestion into careful consideration. Remember, we are here for you, the Mangaswap community!
Good evening everyone, Before the story commences, I am unsure if posting it on this subreddit will be of any help, but I do have a certain faith in the overall Reddit community. About two weeks ago my mother informed me about a conversation she was having with a real friend of hers. They were talking about investing money in something (it was quite vague and unspecified). So naturally I asked some questions; 'What are you investing in? What is the company name?'. It turned out to be a investment in Bitcoin through a company by the name of MTI. Mirror Trading International. Then of course I did some digging, made myself more familiar with how cryptocurrency works and what the processes behind it entail. The search results of MTI show multiple links to news articles disputing the legitimacy of MTI. My mother joined a Zoom call with the friend from before and some others that already partook in this movement. There they asked questions and answered questions about MTI and how it works. MTI claims this: " You too can start to benefit from this marvellous opportunity. Remember, your trading pool balance will fluctuate with the changing Bitcoin price, but your Bitcoin WILL be growing, and when the price of Bitcoin rises, you will be perfectly placed to take full advantage thereof. " Seemingly you invest money in bitcoins and the money of all the investors is gathered in a forex trading pool. Every day investors are able to see the trades in the pool (made my an AI trading bot). Without doing anything you can passively build or grow your balance. I honestly think the revenue that comes back to investors are the funds provided by new members (like in a Ponzi scheme). The returns they promise are way too optimistic to be genuine. The CEO of the company has participated in other fraudulent activities like the Kipi scam. Somehow I tried talking to the people from the Zoom call my mother attended, explaining why I do not trust the company and its intentions. Sadly, all falls on deaf ears and they are unconditionally sure about the legitimacy of MTI. My question: What are your regards on this topic and on MTI? How should I convince those involved that this is not a risk worth taking. It makes me worry more than I want to. Thank you for your time in advance!
